Delgatie Castle

On Friday July 16th, the photo group from BDS went to Delgatie Castle near Turriff, Aberdeenshire. The weather was mixed with some sun and rain and we took photos of the castle from outside and its grounds.
The castle dates from 1030 and is steeped in Scottish History yet still gives the atmosphere of living in a large home. THey are open to the public all year round and they serve wonderful home baking and lunches ion the Laird's kitchen. There is self-catering accomodation in the castle and the Coachhouse.
The Scottish Tourist Board have awarded them four stars. They also do small weddings for 55 people and small conferences. There is also a Trout Fishery which covers over 4 acres of well-stocked trout.
It is not very wheel chair friendly as one of the party was a big lad in a big wheelchair and he could not get into the Laird's Kitchen. However the staff put a table in the front hall for lunch which was very kind of them. The disabled toilet was fine for wheelchairs.
