Advocacy aims to
- stick up for yourself by speaking about the things which concern you.
- help someone to speak up for themselves by offering information and support.
- speak for someone who is unable to speak for themselves and to represent their views.
- advocacy adds weight to people's views, concerns, rights and aspirations.
- helping people to get their point across.
Last week we had a holiday - The week before we went to register to vote at the Banff Electoral
Registrar. We have looked at the political process using a downloaded pack from Mencap, called
"Count Me In." Find it in the blog Teaching Students With Learning Difficulties.
This included "What is Politics," "Structure of Government Political Roles and Responsibilities" and "Voting and Elections ."
Next week we will start a new topic..... If you have any topics you would like to raise let us know.
