Alexander

My name is Alexander and i live in Fyvie. I like watching horror movies, japanese superheroes and my favourite rock band is called Embrace. I come to Banff day services on wednesdays and and Beat on mondays and fridays. I been to Beat and Banff day sevices for a year.

Embrace is a english rock band. A bass player joined the Mcnamara brothers, Richard playing guitar and Danny singing (into an uptuned broomstick at the early stages.) The three of them started creating songs, with the aid of a cassettee recorder, and soon a drum machine was added and a pa. A viable set soon created, and a 4 track version of a recorded on cassettee 4 track in a house in Leeds. Over the summer various were, dropped and new ones written, and the decision was made to search for a drummer, and then move on to rehearsing in studios in Leeds.

I was at the computers today. The computers are good fun. I would like to come back sometime.

Owls at the Portsoy Boat Festival

On Sunday I went to the Portsoy Boat Festival with my carer. It was a beautiful day and the sun was shinning and we went for a walk around the stalls down the harbour. I had a shot of the lucky dip we then looked round the food stalls where I bought some sweets and chocolate we had crepes with chocolate sauce they were lovely. We then went up to Loch Soy and saw the birds of prey they were all beautiful we took some pictures. Then visited the craft fair on the way back home.

The Raft Race

The Kemney to Inverurie raft race took place on Sunday and was a huge success! Thank you to all involved....Both rafts finished the race and everyone managed to stay afloat! The first boat finished in tenth place, out of thirty, which was an excellent result. The rain stayed off and a brilliant time was had by all. Alan said, "It was one of the best days of my life!" We will let you know later how much was raised for charity...Thank you to all once again. Banff Day Services entered two rafts, the course was approximatly 5 miles and took around 2hrs and some of the crew changed at half way. blog by andrew clark

Artsability

Artsability is a fantastic project that promotes performance arts opportunities for adults with learning disabilities in Aberdeenshire.
Key to the success of Artsability is ‘Acting Up’ the core drama group who with Co-ordinator Justyne offer an annual outreach programme to all the Day Services. The outreach supports an annual training from professional Drama Workers, giving the Day Service Drama Leaders and their members a chance to learn new techniques and to work with each other.

The focus for 2010 is ‘Physical Theatre’ here are some pictures from an exciting Workshop held in May with Niki McCretton attended by 18 people, building confidence in close contact and developing creative imagination.
Below are pictures of a Bath scene with 'hairwashing taps! - Niki and Jamie centre and a boat scene story development.
